Great marathon book!
For years I resisted subscribing to Marathon and Beyond. But then at the Boston Marathon expo last year editor Rich Benyo cornered me and I had to subscribe. I am glad I did. The magazine has been fun to read, refreshing in a sense, less engineered and more free form than other running magazines. Thus, when I recently received my renewal request, I renewed happily. With the renewal came a load of book offers. I was sucked in. I ordered three. I will talk about Daniels Running Formula and Better Training for Distance Runners some other time. Right now I am reading Advanced Marathoning by Pete Pfitzinger and Scott Douglas. It is the best marathon book I have read. Lots of science and training guidance. I have gained more insight than ever about pacing in training, what kind and duration of intervals to do, heart race and time per mile guidance, and what all this will contribute to my race success.
