So how much time do you have for training in a week?

Over the last 16 years I have trained 6-22 hours a week. Right now I am struggling to get into double digits, mainly because work has been so demanding. But I am making progress.

Most exciting, I am improving my run speed in intervals and tempo runs. In the past two weeks I have done 2 X 2 miles tempo on the trail at 7:36/7:36 and 7:30/7:30; 2 repeat track miles at 7:36 and 7:12; and 5 400s consistent at easy ("fresh") pace at 1:40 and the faster ones ("good") at ~1:30 pace. At the same time, while behind the curve on my biking and "brick" miles, I am building up. 15 days ago I ran 13 and rode 22. 8 days ago I ran 9 and rode 40. Last Wednesday I rode 26. Yesterday I ran 5 and rode 46 in a very gusty wind which made riding a bit tricky and definitely hard returning home. I am getting there, however slowly.

The race director of the new Rockman Half Ironman Triathlon just emailed and said the race is in four weeks. Oops! Better get there faster!
